Profhilo

What is Profhilo?

As seen in Vogue Magazine, pronounced Pro – file – oh, for those of you who haven’t heard of it, it’s a revolutionary injectable hyaluronic acid for fine lines and wrinkles. It is neither a filler nor a toxin but has the properties of both – it plumps, hydrates and smooths. It is the celebrity world’s best kept secret!

So what is Profhilo? To summarise it is an injectable moisturiser that also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue, and because it is injected it therefore penetrates the dermis deeper and hydrates deeper than any topical cream could hope to.

Why does Luisa recommend it? Unlike traditional skin boosters which require multiple injections all over the face Profhilo is a quick treatment with only five injections each side so it’s less painful for the patient. There is less downtime and the results can be seen very quickly.  It is truly like an injectable moisturiser and giI just love the way it makes skin feel and look like you’ve almost got a Instagram filter glow about your skin. I’ve seen great results with patients that suffer from flushing or rosacea and acne because the extra hyaluronic acid helps to reduce redness and combats oil.

Who is using it? Amongst many other celebs, Martine McCutcheon is known to be a fan and because of its subtle results it’s hard to get anyone to admit it and obviously we can’t dish the dirt because of patient confidentiality but I know that it’s a red-carpet must for “glowy” skin. When it launched it featured in all the high-end glossies from Vogue to Tatler, Vanity Fair and more.

Who’s it for? It is a perfect alternative for people who are opposed to the idea of using a filler and is the ultimate skin ‘pick-me-up’.  Hydrates, smoothes skin and improves texture.

What happens during the treatment? If you’re keen to try this much-coveted new beauty treatment, then you’re probably wondering what it entails. Profhilo is injected into specific points in the skin and for up to 24hrs you can have small lumps which do subside.

How long for the treatment to take effect? The treatment takes around 30mins and effects can be instantaneous, the results then continue to improve over the following days.

How long will results last for? After the first treatment results last for six months and then top ups are every four months.

How many sessions are recommended? It’s recommended to have a course of two treatments around four weeks apart and then treatments usually three times a year.

As with all our injectable treatments you are required to have a no-obligation consultation with a nurse prescriber at Newcastle Skin Clinic prior to any treatments.
